Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: A Message from Pastor Jon

I am so proud of you. The people of Christiania have stepped up in these days of Coronavirus. As God’s people we are exhibiting great flexibility and adaptability. Against substantial challenges, we kept up the good fight. Our pews are empty, but our people have been deployed. Christiania is being church out in the world.

My friends, we are alive and we have adjusted our ministries and life together in ways too numerous to count. Staff and leaders have served us well. It turns out some of what’s most important can be done in ways different than we usually do them: worship; education; meetings; service; and other connecting outreaches. I could not be happier than to be going through our challenges together—with committed partners like you.

I was looking at my calendar to see how long it had been since we last gathered face-to-face. March 8 was our last face-to-face worship in the Sanctuary. Can you believe it’s been a full eight Sundays since our last gathering? I miss you.

Again, know that I am proud of you. God is smiling on our witness in the world. God weeps with us in our sorrows and pains and God encourages us to be trusting and reconciling people. Take comfort in God’s promise: For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:8).

God loves you and so do I!

Pastor Jon
