Staffing Transition Task Force
What is the Staffing Transition Task Force?
Council appointed the Staffing Transition Task Force to ensure a smooth transition as Pastor von Fischer retires through the installation of a new pastor.
Who is on the Staffing Transition Task Force?
Todd Backman, Cheryl Bahnsen, Amy Lindquist, Lucky Rimpila, Dick Sayther, Chris Stewart, Alice Storlie, Karianne Studsdahl, and Pastor Nancy Brown.
What is our current staffing?
Pastor Nancy will continue to serve Christiania as Associate Pastor. Pastor John Golv was contracted as our interim senior pastor beginning July 1, 2007. The Saint Paul Area Synod staff made recommendations of interim pastors to us; the Executive Committee interviewed and hired Pastor Golv.
Why do we need an interim pastor? Can't we just hire another full time pastor immediately?
We need to look at Christiania as a family and not as a corporation. Unlike replacing a CEO at a corporation, we are following an orderly process approved by the synod. An interim pastor is appointed by the synod bishop with consent of our congregation and council to minister at our church while we are in a transition phase and until we call a new pastor. This ensures our day to day business of the church and it's ministry running smoothly. This also gives us time to review, interview and select the right candidate for our church under the Holy Spirit's guidance.
What will our new staff look like?
You will help shape it! The Staffing Transition Task Force wants input from each member regarding long-term staffing, the mission of Christiania, additional input from the feasibility study and recommendations for individuals to serve on the Call Committee when we are searching for a permanent staff.
When are the meetings to give my input?
The Task Force is meeting in September to set dates and times to arrange these meetings. Every member of the congregation that is interested in attending is needed. These meetings will be informal with 10-12 participants in each meeting. Watch this site, the Spotlighter, and the bulletin and please sign up!
What else can I do?
Pray! We rely on the prayers and support of every member as we search God's will for our congregation and mission.
