Why Does the Process Take So Long?

It seems like we have been "getting ready" to choose a new pastor for a long time doesn't it? Well, we have. Because we only have one shot at this, we are trying to do it right. That means it will take a while. It also takes time because we are following the guidelines set up by our synod for calling a pastor.

PHASE I - Leave Taking

Pastor announces he/she is leaving; farewell activities; synod has exit interviews

PHASE II - Congregation Mission Profile

Pastor leaves; Interim begins; Mission Profile; team reviews church's mission statement and develops job description; required ministry skills & priorities list developed; interim pastor installed

PHASE III - Calling the Pastor

Call Committee appointed and sets ground work for operation; receives names; interviews candidates

PHASE IV - New Ministry

New pastor is called; farewell for interim pastor; new ministry begins
